Visitor

(Tug: 1. 63'6"; b. 15'0"; dr. 6'9"; s. 10.0 k.)

Visitor (SP-2266)—a tug built in 1883 at Baltimore, Md.—was acquired by the Navy on 17 April 1917 and was assigned to the 4th Naval District. Visitor served as a tug in the 4th Naval District—though probably not as a commissioned ship—for the remainder of World War I. In all likelihood, she operated at Philadelphia and on the Delaware River in an "in-service" status—although no documentation exists to corroborate that conjecture. In any event, she concluded her naval career in mid-December and was returned to her owner on the 17th. Her name was struck from the Navy list concurrently with her disposal.
