Nellie, a wooden steam screw tug, 4th rate, was launched at Mare Island Navy Yard, San Franeisco, Calif., in 1876. Acquired by the Navy in 1881 as an lmcommissioned yard tug, she saw service at Mare Island for the next thirteen years. She was dropped from the Naval Register in 1894.
