Noord Brabant (No. 2535) of the Noord Brabant Steamship Co., Rotterdam, Netherlands, was built in 1916 by the N.V. Boeles Shipbuilding and Machinery Co., Bolnes, Holland.

Taken over by U.S. Customs officials 20 March 1918, she was transferred to the Navy and assigned to NOTS 2 April. However, before seeing any actual service, the steamer was returned to USSB on the 22nd of the same month.
