Libya

Libyans are predominantly Arab-Berber, with the indigenous Amazigh (Berber), Tuareg, and other minorities. Arabic is the official language.

Islam, predominantly Sunni, is the state religion and followed by nearly the entire population.

Society

Libya had high incomes and development under Gaddafi's oil-funded state, but years of war have damaged services and security, displacing many and drawing in migrants seeking to reach Europe.
