Daoism in China
Daosim originated from Lao Zi who is believed to have lived in the 6th century B.C. The book attributed to him (though it is unlikely that he wrote "Dao De Ching") set out the philosophy of Daoism. Daosim holds that political authority does not impart peace and order. Rather, people must revert to nature in order to be happy. Daoists were perhaps the earliest libertines. They believed that the fewer the laws and rules, the happier people would be.
