On June 29th, 1962 the VC-10 was flown for the first time. The VC 10 was manufactured by Vicker and was a four engine aircraft with its engines in the back. It performace was similar to the Boeing 707 but could land on smaller runways. It was designed to meet the need of BOAC. It met with only modest commercial success with few sales beyond BOAC. The Super CV-10 was a larger model who could hold 187 passenger.
