Visit Historical Sites

 

Fort Worth Stockyards

Visitors can learn all about life in the Old West in Fort Worth, including viewing a live rodeo in the historic Cowtown Coliseum. Built in 1908, the Coliseum hosted the world’s first indoor rodeo.
While you’re in Fort Worth, you won’t want to miss the National Cowgirl Museum, which celebrates pioneering women who helped shape local history. You can get to Fort Worth by taking the DART train from Victory Station.

 

George W. Bush Presidential Center

Bush Library

The 226,000 square-foot building hosts the Presidential Library, a replica of the Oval Office, and over 43,000 artifacts celebrating the life and accomplishments of the 43rd President of the United States. Get there by taking the DART from downtown to the Mockingbird Station.

Bonnie and Clyde

Several locations around Dallas give insight into the story of America’s favorite bank-robbing lovers. You can find them on your own or take one of the many guided tours available. Highlights include the house where Clyde grew up and their gravesites.

JFK Assassination

Several companies offer tours of the key places involved in the JFK Assassination.
You can visit the perfectly preservedRooming House where assassin Lee Harvey Oswald stayed, peruse the artifacts at theSixth Floor Museum, and visit the X marking the spot where the President was shot.

Southfork Ranch

One of the longest-running TV shows of all time, Dallas captivated audiences with the drama and intrigue of Texas oil barons.
At Southfork Ranch, you’ll get the chance to become part of the action by touring the Ewing mansion and seeing props like the fake gun that shot J.R. Get there by taking Highway 75 North to the Parker Road Exit.

 

The Munster Mansion

Sandra and Charles McKee loved the spooky 1960s television show so much that they converted their home into a faithful replica of the original Munster Mansion.
The best way to see Herman, Lily, Grandpa, and Eddie’s quirky residence is by booking a guided tour that includes transportation from Dallas.

Hear Live Music

Deep Ellum

Founded in 1873, the Deep Ellum neighborhood is one of the city’s oldest entertainment districts and includes art galleries, murals, and concert venues. Take the green DART line from Gaston Avenue to reach Deep Ellum.

Dallas Symphony Orchestra

Classical music lovers can’t miss a concert by the world-renowned Dallas Symphony Orchestra, located in the Dallas Arts District. Get there by taking the red, blue, or orange DART lines to the Pearl and Bryan Street station.

Admire the Architecture

Dallas architecture is awe-inspiring, featuring Victorian homes, Art Deco buildings, and modern masterpieces.

Reunion Tower

One of the city’s most famous landmarks, Reunion Tower offers 360-degree views of the city from its Geo-Deck. While you're there, you can sip a signature cocktail or have dinner in the world-class restaurant. If you’re staying in downtown Dallas, you can easily walk to Reunion Tower.

Ronald Kirk Bridge

The Ronald Kirk Bridge offers incredible views of the Dallas skyline. The bridge is a short walking distance from Dallas’ Historic Downtown District.

Fair Park

Visitors will find plenty to do in Fair Park, including admiring the 1930s Art Deco architecture and murals. The park hosts regular concerts, sports matches, and theater events. Fair Park is also home to theAfrican American Museum, featuring one of the most extensive collections of African American folk art in the country. 
Get there by taking the green line from downtown to the Fair Park exit.

Dallas Heritage Village

Old City Park’s Dallas Heritage Village features pristinely preserved Victorian homes and gives visitors a chance to see what life was like in 19th-century Texas. The Village is a short taxi ride from downtown Dallas.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

White Rock Lake

White Rock Lake is 9-miles in circumference and makes an ideal spot to rent bikes or kayaks. Highlights include a 1930s Art Deco boathouse, awe-inspiring views from Winfrey Point, and a 66-acre Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Get there by taking the blue DART line from Rowlett Station to the White Rock exit.

Great Trinity Forest

Great Trinity Forest is home to an aerial adventure park featuring zip lines and high ropes. You’ll also find plenty of paved trails and local wildlife, including river otters. You can get to the forest by taking a bus or the green DART line.

Katy Trail

Ideal for walking, running, or biking, the Katy Trail runs 3.5 miles from Highland Par to the American Airlines Center. If you get hungry, you can pack a picnic or head to the Katy Trail Ice House for a meal.
The entrance to Katy Trail is just north of downtown. You may want to stop at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science on your way.

Dallas Museum of Art

The Dallas Museum of Art showcases an impressive collection of African, Asian, Polynesian, and Mesoamerican artifacts. For an added adventure, head to the museum via the McKinney Avenue Trolley.

Nasher Sculpture Center

The Nasher Center’s extensive sculpture collection includes works by modern masters Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. The Center is easy walking distance from downtown Dallas.

Lighthouse Art Space

The Lighthouse ArtSpace hosts immersive events, featuring popular artists like Frida Kahlo and Vincent Van Gogh. You can also participate in regularly scheduled yoga classes in the immersive spaces. The ArtSpace is an easy 15-minute walk from the Downtown Historic District.

Crow Museum of Asian Art

Located on the University of Texas campus, the Crow Museum houses ancient artifacts from China, India, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia, in addition to masterworks from contemporary Asian artists.
