Rudyard Kipling
1865- 1936
British Author
A British author born in India in the era of the Raj and educated in England, Rudyard Kipling wrote stories which reflect much of his early life in Bombay. Nevertheless, he actually completed one of his most popular works, The Jungle Book (1894), while living in the US near the family of his American wife.
Upon his return to England, he wrote primarily for children, including Just So Stories (1902) and Kim (1901). Kipling won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1907.
