Pierre Trudeau

Pierre Trudeau was born on October 18, 1919 in Montreal Canada. Trudeau studied law, and in 1943 became a member of the bar. He was a strong critic of many government policies in Quebec. In 1965, after having been a law professor, he was elected to the Parliament as a representative of the Liberal Party.
In 1967 he became the Minister of Justice, and in 1968, he succeeded Lester Pearson as Prime Minister. He retained that post until 1979, and then again from 1980 to 1984. Trudeau was a strong opponent of separatism for Quebec.
