Hosni Mubarak

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak began his career as an Airforce pilot. He advanced through the ranks and in 1972 became the Commander of Egypt's Airforce, leading it during the 1973 Yom Kippur War with Israel.

In 1975 he was appointed by President Anwar Sadat to the position of Vice President of Egypt. After Sadat's assassination, Mubarak became the new President of Egypt. He has continued Sadat's policies, including his peace accord with Israel. He continued ruling Egypt until the Arab Spring of 2011 when he was forced to resign. He was tried for his actions in trying to put down the revolt, but by the time the trails took place the miltary was once again in charge of the country and he was released.
