That meeting then expanded into a larger working breakfast.

The President and First Lady then attended an event in a local hospital that highlighted maternal care.

The centrer point of the President's visit was a speech that he gave to the Parliament of Ghana. When he arrived he was greeted with cheers of "yes we can". South African President Jacob Zuma and the President Obama then had a one on one meeting.

The President and First Lady then met with the Head Chief Osabarima Kwesi Atta II at the chief's home.

The First Family including the Presidents daughers then visited the infamous slave castle at Cape Coast. From there many of the slaves who were shipped to the United States were held before transport. The President stated after the tour that "it remided him of his tour of the Buchenwald. It demonstrated the human ability to do pure evil."

The First Family then departed for their return trip to Washington.
