President Obama began his day at the National Breakfast Prayer Meeting. The Nation Breakfast prayer meeting has been taking place since 1953. A number of other national leaders were in there, as was former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. President Obama stated: “Far too often, we have seen faith wielded as a tool to divide us from one another – as an excuse for prejudice and intolerance. Wars have been waged. Innocents have been slaughtered. … But no matter what we choose to believe, let us remember that there is no religion whose central tenet is hate. â€Full text
The President spent the next part of the morning receiving his daily briefings and meeting with his senior advisors.

At 11:00 the President signed and Executive Order forming the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships
traveled to the Department of Energy and gave a speech demanding swift passage of the stimulus package and to blast critics for peddling “the same worn out ideas that led us here in the first place. â€
3:00 PM The President and the Vice Presdient met with Secretary of Treasury Geithner. At 5:05PM the president met with Secretary of Interior Salazar.
In the evening the President made his first trip out of town to speak in Williamsburg Virginia at the House Democrats Issues Conference. In his speech the President made it clear that he would not give in far to the suggestions of the Republicans. He stated:"But what I have also said is -- don't come to the table with the same tired arguments and worn ideas that helped to create this crisis. (Applause.) You know, all of us here -- imperfect. And everything we do and everything I do is subject to improvement. Michelle reminds me every day how imperfect I am. (Laughter.) So I welcome this debate. But come on, we're not -- we are not going to get relief by turning back to the very same policies that for the last eight years doubled the national debt and threw our economy into a tailspin.
